Another French Knot Sheep

I have a thing for french knot sheep. I love stitching them. I find french knots very soothing. This isn't the first time I have stitched this sheep pattern either.  

Starting with the branches in stem stitch and leaves with detached daisy chain.

Added the chain stitch border in blue - following my favorite method from Sublime Stitching.

The tree trunk is satin stitch and the ground outline stem stitch.

Finished the sheep with white french knots for the body, satin stitch for the head, and bullion knots for the legs.

The first time I stitched this pattern, I didn't add any grass and stitched the tree trunk differently.

This time I added some french knots and cross stitches around the border for decoration.

How to Mount Embroidery on Canvas (Little Sheep Version)

Since my little sheep embroidery is a gift, I decided to mount it on a tiny canvas.

This is actually the third post I have done about mounting embroidery on canvas (I have previously posted about it here and here) but I figured why not do another one - especially since this embroidery is very small - the canvas size is 2 inches by 2 inches.

So let's get started!

First - just for fun - I placed a quarter next to the embroidery to give you an idea of the actual size.

What you will need:

• staple gun
• canvas

* This canvas is the Artist's Loft Mini Canvas 2" x 2" that I purchased at Michaels

1. Lay out your embroidery and place the canvas on top - trying to center it as best you can.

 2. Pulling the fabric tight - staple the center of each side.

3. If your canvas is larger - you will work your way around the canvas, stapling towards each corner. But since this is so small, I only needed one staple per side.

4. For the corners, I wrapped the fabric like a present and stapled it down. Then trim the fabric to make it look nice!

Now, it will be shipped off to it's new home! :)

Little Embroidered Sheep with Flowers

I've finally finished my latest little sheep embroidery.

This is a gift for someone's birthday that I am going to mount on a little canvas (which will be my next post) and will take more photos so you can see how small this actually is.

Whenever I post little sheep embroidery they always seem to be the most viewed posts - I guess everyone loves little sheep!
