WIP Wednesday - Flower Lady Progress (Part 3)

I finally filled in the hair on my flower lady.

Before:

This was taken before I finished the flowers inside the legs

After:

For the filling I worked straight stitches close together - it is almost like a satin stitch but I wanted some slight spacing in between the stitches.

I have made quite a bit of progress on my flower lady since last WIP Wednesday.

The top two photos I finished stitching all the flowers.

The following two photos are after adding leaves and stems throughout the flowers.

Next up: filling in the hair. Not sure what stitch to use yet though!

WIP Wednesday - Flower Lady Progress (Part 1)

Well, I have made some progress on my "flower lady".

I am starting to add some leaves around the flowers today.

By next Wednesday, I am hoping to have a lot more to show you!

Today's post is just a few photos of a WIP that I have been slowly working on.

To give you a little hint - I am filling up this stitched purple girl with flowers.

WIP Wednesday: Stitching Something Else (That is not TAST!)

It's been a long time since my last WIP Wednesday post! I feel like I haven't really had any embroidery projects going on - except for TAST posts.

Time for a change.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy the Take a Stitch Tuesday challenge and have been doing pretty good lately keeping up with it each week, but I need to stitch something else!

So I have started a couple little embroideries that are going to be gifts.

Here is one very quick photo of my WIP I just started of this little sheep.

I love stitching little sheep! :)

Little Tree Drawing Mini Embroidery

My nine year old niece drew me a cute little tree and I wanted to embroider it.

I thought it would be fun to take her drawing, stitch it, frame it, and give it to her as a little gift.

Here is a photo of the original drawing.

Here it is transferred onto the fabric ready to stitch.

I used all stem stitch, since it's my favorite.

A long time ago I bought these little canvases with frames at a craft store which I thought would be perfect to finish the tree.

I stapled the fabric to the canvas (which I have written about previously here – it is my favorite way to finish my embroidery now).

Staple around all edges - pulling the fabric tight around the canvas.

Staple the corners - similiar to wrapping a present and staple.

All stapled!

Here it is all finished inside the frame and ready to send in the mail!

WIP Wednesday - Bunnies!

My last WIP Wednesday post was a long time ago (back in September 2013!!)

I took a quick photo of my current work in progress - a cute little bunny that I basically forced my husband to draw for me. (Ok - technically its just a photo of my tools before I even started..)

I wanted to embroider an Easter gift for someone - so I am stitching some bunnies on a tea towel.

Now let's hope I can finish it before Easter arrives! :)

WIP Wednesday - Tribute to Erro - Girl #3

Wow - it feels like I have been working (er, hardly working!) on stitching this face for a million years... It also feels like a million years since I have posted a WIP Wednesday!

Here is the progress I have made on my Erro face since the last time I posted about it back in June. I think I have made quite a bit of progress.

I am happy with it so far - the lips still need to be filled in.

Here is what it looked like when I first started stitching to give you an idea of the progress. Please excuse the very poor photo lighting!! :) It almost doesn't even look like the same eyes...

This is my third girl in my "tribute to Erro" embroidery project. Erro is my favorite artist and I chose 3 girls faces from his paintings/drawings to embroider. They are for me - I hardly ever stitch something just for me to keep. I plan on mounting them on canvas when I am finished.

I previously posted here about Girl #2 and and Girl #1 you can check out here on my Flickr page.

Hopefully it will not take me another three months to finish!

Another Little Sheep

I really like stitching these little sheep with french knots. This is from a Floss Box pattern I posted about here.

This time I created my own border around it.

This was a birthday gift for a new friend who loves to knit, so I thought stitching a little sheep would be fun and fitting - you know, sheep make wool, wool makes yarn.... :)

WIP Wednesday

My latest work in progress. I've started on my third Erro tribute embroidery.

I've started on the black outline of the eyes.

Erro is one of my favorite artists. My previous Erro embroidery I posted about here  and my first can be seen on my Flickr set here.

How to: Mounting Embroidery on Canvas

For my Phat Quarter - Blinded by Science swap embroidery, I finished it by stretching it or mounting it on a canvas. I had never done it before so thought I would give it a try. It  was really easy and I think it might be my new favorite way to display embroidery.

What you need:
1. Staple gun
2. any size canvas

Blank 8x10 canvas

I first  laid my embroidery on top of the canvas and did my best to center it.

Then flip it over and staple the center of each side, pulling the fabric tight.

Work your way around the canvas stapling towards the corners.

To do the corners, I wrapped the each corner like wrapping a present and stapled it down. It is a little bulky in the back, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am sure the more I do it the better I will get.

WIP Wednesday

I've made some progress on my little sheep stitching. Any work on it has been during my lunch breaks.

I am much more excited about my other wip for the Phat Quarter group swap on Flickr. It's my first swap and the theme is "blinded by science". My deadline is April 30th so I have get going on it. I will post photos of it when I am finished.

WIP Wednesday

Ok, so this is technically not a "work in progress" but it soon will be!

I am excited for this one. I love sheep and when I saw this pattern from Floss Box on Etsy, I just had to buy it! I love it.

I am not following the exact floss colors the pattern suggests, but I know it will be cute no matter what.

WIP Wednesday: Purple Lady

Hello! I'm starting a new weekly feature called WIP Wednesday!

Every Wednesday (hopefully) I'm going to post what embroidery work I have in progress.

This week, I'm working on the next pattern my husband drew.

I'm using 4 strands of floss by mixing 2 strands of dark purple with 2 strands of very light purple.

Warning.... big booty coming up!! :)

Pearl Cotton Embroidery

My latest embroidery is another design my husband drew.

This is my first time using pearl cotton. I really like its shine but I think for this specific design, I would have liked stitching it with stranded floss better.

All done with stem stitch - I am a little obsessed with it lately.

Up Close

This design will eventually be a pattern available on my Etsy store when it is ready and open.

WIP - Mask Embroidery

I've made a lot of progress on this mask embroidery I started from a previous post.

I had no idea what colors I was going to use when I started stitching this, but knew I wanted to do something more pastel-y, since my last few embroideries had so much black. I'm not sure if I want to add some filler stitches to it.

Up Close

This is an original design my husband drew that eventually will be a pattern on our Etsy store. . . Whenever that is ready. Its a work in progress. . . but we are slowly getting there.
